So many brides have planned their wedding day for months, even years and one of my great delights is co-working with the bride to create the wedding flowers, décor and ambience she dreamt of.
When it comes to the floral decor of a wedding it is critical to try to see the bride’s vision of her wedding through her eyes. I find the best way to start this process is to meet the bride/bridal couple if possible, to look at photos of ideas, look at previous weddings we may have done and for me to offer advice about what products are available, etc. If a meeting is not possible, sharing emails of pictures/pinterest pages and moodboards are a good way of getting started.
Once the bride has a better idea of number of guests, configuration of tables, etc it is often helpful for the decor ideas to be translated onto a rough diagram/sketch of the layout of the ceremony and/or reception area - either by the bride or myself.
On the day of set-up it is always a race against time but also a time of meeting great people. Often family members and friends are buzzing around helping, the wedding co-ordinator and photographers are busy with their work and there is a wonderful sense of supporting each other to make the dream of the bridal couple come true.
Once the floral decor has been done, it’s incredible to look around and see the reality of what the bride envisioned all those months before. It’s been so gratifying to receive messages from brides to say how delighted they were with the flowers. Translating fabulous ideas into fabulous ideas - that’s what we’re about!
